I've been a lifelong subscriber to the P-R. My family turned me in to a newspaper junkie early on, as they were all subscribers, and I really like it as a morning paper. I just wish it was still being published 7 days a week.
I used to subscribe as reading a newspaper (real not digital) was something I was raised with, however I gave it up two elections ago and don't miss it at all.

Default Philo Farnsworth Tribute on Tuesday, 2/25/2014

Philo Farnsworth, the Rigby native who is known as the Father of TV ( Official Farnsworth site) is being remembered on Fox East Idaho 3.1 on Tuesday, 2/25/2014. That's KXPI.

A KID (now KIDK) employee who was in the studio when KID first was broadcast, with Mr. Farnsworth in the studio, will be interviewed. I would expect this special also to be on KIDK.

If you are newer to the area or want to know more about how East Idaho contributed to TV, you might want to see this interview.

Default I Don't Understand the Time Lags

I don't understand why tv and other news doesn't get info as fast as some of us do. Most recent case, the Frontier Airlines flight.

I even went to another Forum to post about it there and someone from a different state already had.

What's up that NPG and KPVI don't make these adjustments sooner?

Default The Idaho Statesman

The Idaho Statesman in Boise doesn't require a subscription. There isn't as much info about Eastern or Southeastern ID as the local papers, but there is some. Additionally, there is news about the entire state and State Government.

Here's the link. IdahoStatesman.com - News, sports & weather | Boise, ID

Cool YES! Media on Sports!

KIFI did a great segment on sports tonight. I felt more "at home," with this format. It wasn't the entire show but maybe some positive feedback could encourage this feature as a regular.

Chris Renkel had print reporters from the ISJ and PR in to discuss an issue. This is what happens in bigger markets. Utilizing coaches, media, "retired" or "graduated" athletes talk about specific topics.

This format is so popular in many markets. Why isn't it the format included here? Or saying that with a positive approach, true sports fans learn from these discussions and I sure hope there are more on Sat. or when a group can meet and discuss the topics! I couldn't find the video. If someone please post it here.

Congratulations to all of our regional teams who sealed the deal for state. Good luck to the two playing for Boys State Basketball Champs on Saturday! One is Firth. That would be sweet as Coach Sharla Cook, someone I know, coached the Firth Girls to win the State Championship!!

Exclamation Should Radio Stations Include this Suicide Hotline Number too?

Should the local groups of radio stations, which provide mostly entertainment news, weather information etc. post something like a Suicide Hotline and Domestic Abuse/Sexual Assualt Hotline numbers in their apps? Or is that too "real" for those who just want entertainment?

Thank goodness a tv station finally did!
Suicide hotline expands hours | Latest News - Home

National numbers could be posted on all the apps and websites. Most areas don't even use apps, but that's another discussion (below under radio). So what part of alerting the public of local weather, traffic dangers do we want our local radio stations to provide like they use to?

Or should local radio just be considered entertainment and with perhaps one or two stations, none need to provide information about public safety?

How many of you travel with a tv or newspaper or get alerts from them about the weather etc. needed for your safety?

Thumbs down Closed I-15 Segment: How Did You Learn About It?

I got an alert about one portion of I-15 being closed 34 minutes ago.

What radio station have you heard broadcast this information? Or are they focused on posting Social Media to increase "followers?" I can't say listeners as posting pics daily of a business someone owns or manages on the radio station Facebook page or Apps seems more about promoting those businesses with selfie pics etc. appears to be the priority of some radio stations, IMO.

At least one tv station still sends out alerts to keep people safer.

Default Cool Story by Bre Clark

I think I'm confused. First, I want to recognize Bre Clark as one of the real talents NPG hired in the fall. Her CV is impressive, IMO.

Secondly, I hope someone or several people can help me wiyh this. Duh, maybe I should watch the video first. Bre reports on the ARTitorium being built downtown as a child's museum.

I guess I have two questions. 1. I thought the ARTitorium had already been completed. It's fine if I'm wrong. Was there like a Phase I and now a Phase II? Or was it prep work to get ready for this point?
2. Is this in the old Rio Theater on Broadway?

It's great that it will be done by July! We'll have to make sure Warden knows about this when he comes back to visit and his granddaughter and others accompany them. She might like it.
