Hello everyone and Happy Holidays!

I'm a single father of 2 small girls, and am considering a move to Ammon. I currently live near Reno NV.

I do have a few quick questions though, that I have been unable to find answered.

Are people friendly in Ammon? Where I live in Reno, people are quite rude and keep to themselves. Is Ammon a friendly city overall?

What is crime like? Are there many burglaries, assault, etc? Or can I feel safe being out and about with my little girls? This is of huge importance to me

Does Ammon have a small town feel? What is rush hour traffic like? Do people generally obey the speed limits?

What areas are considered the "new" parts of town? Any nice/safe new neighborhoods I should know about?

Thank you for all who reply and Merry Christmas!

Ammon has grown rapidly from 5K in 2000 to some 17K residents today. Most of it is fairly new. Being a bedroom community of Idaho Falls, it's very safe. It does have a small town feel. Traffic gets a little heavy on 17th and Hitt. It will be under reconstruction starting next spring. Other arterial roads in the area need expansion but lack funding. Namely 1st St and Ammon road. People are pretty friendly in the area but they tend to keep to themselves. To direct you to a particular neighborhood we would need to know more about if you're buying or renting and if you're buying, your budget.

^ I think that post typifies the friendliness and helpfulness of this community as a whole

as I browse the forums for larger metros, a common answer would have been "hey use the search function!" or "hey didn't you notice there are a half-dozen Ammon threads on Page One alone?!?"

I love Idaho Falls
