Hello. My family and I are strongly considering moving to the Idaho Falls Area. We Currently live in the Seattle area and want to get out of the " Hustle and Bussle". What is it like there? My husband's commute is now over an 1 hour ea way, and we live 12 miles from the city. Also, I've read a lot on these boards re: LDS. Is it a very large LDS community and what does that mean according to the IF locals? We lived in AZ for 5 years and made some very good LDS friends. I just need info on the communtiy and if it's just plain friendly. Thanks!!! Oh and where to live I'm looking for 250-300,000 in aneighborhood with sidewalks, thanks!!!!

For starters, you won't find any trouble finding a home in the price range you're talking (perhaps even for less ), however if that's the range you want then check out Shamrock Park and Cedar Ridge subdivisions.

As far as friendly, most of us are

I don't think the LDS thing will be an issue if you've already got friends that are LDS. Some just seem more overwhelming than others, but you can get that in any crowd. Yes, it's a huge LDS area, but some of us are not

Thanks. We're looking to find a place that really feels like a community. We're pretty mainstream people. I was born in a big city and lived in them my whole life, and am curious on what a smaller town is like. We visited IF last month and really liked the scenery and thought people seemed nice. Thanks for your info. Any input in schools?

I don't have kids, but from what I've heard from friends and those with kids you want to be out in the Hillcrest area. The schools would be Hillcrest high school, Sand Creek Middle and either Tiebreaker or Ammon Elem., plus they've just opened two other elem. schools.

That being said, then you wouldn't want to move into Shamrock or Cedar Ridge as it'd place you in the wrong area.

Sadly, yes there are. Let's put it this way, at one of the new elem. schools, they are already having to bring in modular units

WOW! It sounds like the area is growing? Are most yards rather large in subdivisions? I know I must sound naive, but our lots are like 5-7,000 sq ft anf 7,000 being on the high side for a yard. What does a nice size house with say a .25 acre lot run? on average ? Our area that we live in is insane everywhere you look houses! Thanks again

I live out in the Ammon area near Hillcrest High School, in the newer subdivisions you should be able to find something in your price range with about a 1/4 acre lot. Not too many are full 1/4 acres, but close at least.
