Some sad news over the weekend, which was clearly over-shadowed by the Superbowl.

The Idaho Falls medical community lost a positive addition, Dr. Kim Coffman. He was a Cardiologist with the Idaho Heart Institute ( not to be confused with Dr. Jay Kaufman at the same practice).
I thought Dr. Coffman was a Nuclear Cardiologist as well as General Cardiologist.

His obituary both in the P.R. and online Wood Funeral Home has errors. Dr. Coffman relocated to Idaho Falls in 1999. He came during an era of rapid growth and change in Cardiac Services in Idaho Falls.

In general, patients appreciate the medical community in Idaho Falls. One thing I know about Dr. Coffman is I've never heard anything negative about him. I know he was on-call one night when I had an extended relative seen.

For any staff or patients who want to express their condolences/feelings about Dr. Coffman's passing, messages for his wife and children can be left online at Woodfuneralhome.com.

Thankfully, we have not lost many physicians who were still in practice. I opted to post this so anyone who had Dr. Coffman care for him/her or others close to them were aware. Patients, office staff, those he worked with in the hospitals and others also need the opportunity to reflect and grieve. Additionally, since Dr. Kaufman is older, I believe, some might be confused of which Cardiologist we lost.

My condolences to Dr. Kim Coffman's family, partners and others whose lives have changed from his death. May you have peace, comfort and remember your memories as you start the journey of healing.

RIP Dr. Coffman.
