Options for TV and internet in Idaho Falls (Ammon: for sale, house)

We are moving from Texas to IF this summer (2019) to a house on the west side. What are the options for residential TV and internet service?

The west side has the same cable and internet options as the east side has.
Our internet speeds are lower state-wide than other states, though, but they're fast enough to be called high-speed.

Idaho Falls isn't exceptional in this, but there are some local efforts being made to improve the speed here.

But in general, the farther you are from the city limits, the slower the net can be. The big companies don't pay much attention to Idaho's needs, as we are a small market with a lot of remote little spots. I expect that is changing right now as Idaho is growing faster than at any time in my lifetime, and Idaho Falls has always been on the leading edge of technology more than other cities.

No, I haven't. I have regular cable (Spectrum) here now -- phone, internet, & TV in a bundle. I'm ready to explore lower cost alternatives for TV and internet. I've never had satellite, but I know it can get expensive too.

I quit cable in 2005 and purchased a good rooftop antenna. The local broadcast stations here have about 20 digital sub-channels, and I've been completely happy with the programming I get on-air ever since.

The new digital amplified antennas that can be used indoors work just as well, and I may eventually get one of those.

But cable internet here has a good reputation for being fast, and it's supposedly faster than the connection I currently use through Century Link, the local telephone company, so I may switch back to cable. But I probably won't be using it for TV now that the net is full of streaming services.

I have seen those HDTV antennas for sale at Costco at a very reasonable price. I don't know if they work any good.

Cableone is by far and away the fastest internet option, unless you live in one of the few neighborhoods in Ammon that already has the residential Fiber-optic installed.

Cableone offers internet access up to 1gbps. I have a 300mbps connection from Cableone and it's rock solid.

Centurylink/Qwest offers DSL up to about 40mbps.

Fybercom has "wireless fiber" at 50mbps. It's really short-hop wireless to a nearby cell phone tower, then fiber from there.

I expect both DirectTV and Dish still offer their satellite internet. I've never tried it,as the latency associated with a hop up to orbit and back is not conducive to gaming, which is a big hobby in my house.

Although I use cableone internet, I haven't had cableTV since 2008. An HD TV antenna, Netflix, and Amazon video are more than enough for my family.

CenturyLink actually offers up to 1 Gig in some areas (mostly new neighborhoods) and up to 80MB other places. I pay for 80 and actually get up to 85.

Aren't there any cable companies in this area for fast internet service?
Here we have Comcast/Xfinity which has super fast connections.
