I was living in Poky when the 2009 H1N1 swine broke out. I remember being concerned but the panic was about one percent of what we have today. While c19 is perhaps more dangerous the hype is 100 percent more. The differences are amazing. While I don’t minimize the current problem, I can’t help believe there is an over reaction going on. But wash your hands and stay healthy.

Default Covid

Have a trip planned to Idaho Falls in mid April with my daughter to explore the area as a possible new home to retire to. Made the reservations via AirBnB at the beginning of March. Then all of this has happened with the Covid epidemic. I had planned to visit the attractions, check out stores, restaurants, neighborhoods and meet with my realtor there. I wanted the opportunity to “meet and greet” locals and just generally get a feel for the area. I have done a lot of research already online and through this forum. My question is should I bother to keep my plans to travel there to do all of the above ? How is Idaho Falls being affected by the virus, such as are there many places open and up for business or is everything shut down and everyone staying in their homes etc.? My dates of travel is set up from April 10th to the 19th. Your thoughts and observations would be appreciated. Thanks.....

Just to update since I could not edit my original post per administration rules. I have decided to postpone my trip up there...too risky, too soon to do any travel. Darn. Just wishful thinking and hoping. But when this all over I will travel up there.

You did well to postpone.

The state school board just extended a 'soft closure' to the end of April. They may allow the schools to reopen in May, or may close them for the rest of the school year, depending on how the epidemic is going.

For April, the state will work on a home education program that will be implemented if the shutdown continues.
Seniors will be allowed to graduate without taking the usual exams that are always given.

Idaho Falls is pretty closed up right now; while there's no official orders to do so, everyone seems to be staying home pretty much.

So far, Bonneville county has no cases of COVID-19 that have been reported, but almost all of the surrounding counties have at least one case, and some have several. I'm sure its only a matter of time before a few are reported here, given that we have the larger hospitals.

You're correct. Gov. Little extended the order to the last week of April. 21 more days.
