If the dog bites at ones extremities it should receive an instant dirt nap.
If it is just a stray due to some pinhead owners negligence chase it away with a wild raucous yell.
If the yell doesn't work pepper spray will.

Talking I don't think so.

My son was doing a paper on government and found this forum by accident and was a little surprised. We’ve lived here for about 6 years and the only thing I can figure is you must have an axe to grind. I went to school in Ucon in 1971 and it had a town marshal as did Iona and Ammon. Many years later I had the chance to come back to Idaho and chose to live in Ucon. My wife and children are not Mormon but feel we are treated very well by the local community. So my son and I went to a couple of Council meetings, did a little research on the Mayor, Police officer, Fire Dept and public works and this is what we found. The Mayor is under paid for the number of hours he puts in, the city is in the black and has made several major infrastructure upgrades on grants not taxes. The city has among the lowest water and sewer rates in SE Idaho. He is a little quiet when approached. The Police officer is currently serving in Iraq so I was unable to speak with him. I have seen him quit often around town, mostly in the school zone in the morning. I spoke to a Bonneville County deputy that said the Ucon city officer, mentioning him by name was born in Iona and knows most of the local residents. He has been an officer for more than 30 years and was responsible for one of the biggest burglary arrests in the county. Talking to the prosecutors office arrest in general were up before his departure. A couple other things I was told was the officer picked up a dead cat off the road and buried for the owner and has replaced most of the city street signs on his own time. The Fire Dept is all volunteer and has a good reputation. The Public Works Director is a little different and can be seen on Youtube with his band. We think he does a great job.
