Things we should do or see in Idaho Falls during our visit? (spring break)

My boyfriend and I will visit Idaho Falls in the end of March as a step in our relocation process. I will have a meeting at my employer-to-be one of the days, i.e. we will have 3-4 days to explore Idaho Falls.

I have only visit Idaho Falls once before when I was attending a conference in August last year, my boyfriend has never been there. Since we obviously pretty much don't know anything about Idaho Falls, I wonder if you have any suggestion regarding things we should do or see.

We will probably arrive extremely jetlaged (8hrs time difference) on a Saturday, and then head back home the following Wednesday or Thursday.

I'm thankful for any suggestions at all!

That's during Spring Break so I'm certain there will be some fun activities.

I know you ride horses and most into equine also like dogs, there's a really fun exhibit that will be on display at the museum when you're here The Museum of Idaho

Back to horses, if you keep an eye on their website they should know of any upcoming shows or you can go visit the barn Parkwood Equestrian Center (http://www.parkwoodjumpers.com/index.cfm?pv=hm - broken link)

Joox, this is kind of a Duh answer, but did you check out the sticky thread at the top, about things to do in IF? Other than that I can't be helpful, because I don't really know IF, but there is one thing I can suggest, having traveled overseas a lot: If you only have 5-6 days in the US altogether, there are (IMO) one of two ways to deal with the jetlag: (1) Ignore it! There's probably not enough time to adjust completely unless you take medication, so just take naps (1-2 hours) whenever you get too exhausted, set the alarm if it's daytime so you don't sleep longer than 2 hours, and then get back up again and continue with meetings and sightseeing, and then take another nap 5-6 hours later, etc. It will keep you sane and fairly well rested, and by the third day you may even feel somewhat adjusted. Or: (2) Take Melatonin at bedtime for at least the first three nights, 1 mg should do it if you're not used to taking it. Melatonin is a naturally occurring brain hormone that helps you adjust your inner clock, and safe for most adults, but do read the warning label before you buy a bottle. If it isn't available in Sweden, get it at a drugstore when you arrive. No prescription is needed. I don't know what I would have done without Melatonin to combat jetlag. Fortunately it's always easier to adjust to the time difference going west than going east, so jetlag shouldn't prevent you from getting a lot out of your short stay!

I just looked at MapQuest, and it seems to me that it would be possible for you guys to do a side trip to Jackson Hole, weather permitting: 2 hours from IF, that's all, according to MapQuest. But our IF forum members would know if that's feasible in late March. Of course, once you live in IF you can do easy trips to Jackson any time! But it could be a treat for your boyfriend if he's not coming along to IF when you relocate. Just an idea.

CFF has a good idea for a side trip to Jackson Hole providing a late Spring storm doesn't foul it up. Would most likely be too early to get into the Park (Yellowstone) at that point.

I'll 3rd the Jackson Hole side trip... Thats a very cool place, and a drive through Yellowstone is pretty much a must if your in IF at the right time of year..
