Does the wind really blow all the time in Idaho Falls? Someone told me it does. If so is it just that nuisance wind that messes up a picnic? Or is it noisy and the kind that drops the temperature by 20 or 30 degrees in the winter (wind chill!!)?

The Wind Festival tends to run between Jan- Dec yearly with intermittent breaks in between.

Yes, it can and often does blow enough to foul up a picnic and a good hit in a game of baseball as well as blow in the winter to drop the wind chill to sub zero temps.

There do seem to be seasons for the winds. For me, the worst are the spring winds, which start in April. They can blow at 25-30 MPH constantly for 24-48 hours. Wind chills this past Dec. were no picnic either, but it did come and go, as opposed to spring, where it just blows

I recall some of the wind storms of last spring and early summer reminded me of hurricane-type winds...not quite the intensity (as the winds aren't THAT fierce), but they just don't let up on some days.

Spring and summer seem to be the worst here in Blackfoot. It took me awhile to get use to it. If you have long hair you learn to put it up! LOL Winter does have some wind and it can get cold from it but after living in 300% humidity and hurricanes in Virginia Beach I have learned to live with the wind here!
