I just spent a week driving a big circle from SE Idaho to Reno, over to Sacramento, up 101, hooking up with I-5 at Grants Pass north to Seattle, (BTW, good to see major I-5 expansion from Centrailia to Olympia), then, I-90 to Spokane, Missoula, and south to SE Idaho.

Frankly, I don't remember a recent year with so much road construction, throughout the region. Question: is this part of stimulus spending, or is just normal? Frankly, if we are going to spend stimulus dollars, I'm glad to see it invested in infrastructure. Atleast there is a tangible result.

BTW, OMG, the stretch of I-80 between Reno and east of Sacramento is awful. A lot of work to do there.

Not my favorite road trip in many years...

Hahahaha! We've spent all day today crawling up I-15 from Idaho Falls to Butte, and then I-90 to Missoula through endless road construction, down to 1 lane and 35 MPH! We've never seen anything like it, either! I thought 15 was going to be fast! What a relief to get on highway 200, going "home" to Sandpoint...

It makes for some boring minutes sitting in line talking to the nice flag girl, but Idaho really takes care of their highways. Even the backroads are well maintained, not just 95. It's good to see that many people back to work throughout the state.

Yes, I would rather see folks working and improving roads than just sitting at home collecting governent money. Very Roosevelt-driven philosophy, and generally not my opinion of the way to get things done, but atleast proactive in this situation. Hopefully, this will be short-term, and we can get back to market-driven economics soon.
