We are trying to get all our information together before move to Boise..
COming from AZ - I am curious what the gun control laws are in Boise/Idaho?
Here in AZ it is like the wild west and want to avoid this -
thank you
The gun laws in Boise are basically the same as the laws here in Arizona.
The good new is there's not as many people, so there can't possibly be as many guns
below are the basic questions and answers to ID gun laws
IDAHO - State Requirements
Rifles and Shotguns
· Permit to purchase rifles and shotguns? No
· Registration of rifles and shotguns? No
· Licensing of owners of rifles and shotguns? No
· Permit to carry rifles and shotguns? No
Handguns
· Permit to purchase handgun? No
· Registration of handguns? No
· Licensing of owners of handguns? No
· Permit to carry handguns? Yes. A permit is required if concealed.
Other Requirements
· Is there a State waiting period? No.
Its still the wild west, but prettier and quieter.
Idaho is a very gun-oriented state. You can shoot on your own property (if you have acreage), you can carry guns openly, gun racks in pickups, very simple to get a concealed permit, etc.
If you don't like gun laws in AZ, you'll like it less here in Idaho. And while I welcome anyone who wants to move here, as the people welcomed our family, you wouldn't make yourself very popular if you moved here and started crusading for strict gun control.
We look at it this way...here you can walk into a swap meet and buy an AK-47, no waiting, no paperwork....and here my teens can go duck hunting. Yet we don't have massive gun violence problems like all those "civilized" areas with restrictive laws on gun ownership. This area embraces "live and let live" which means you don't have a ton of laws but you take it seriously when someone breaks the laws that are in place.
FYI, the number of guns has no bearing on gun violence. When I was a cop in LA, most households that owned guns had 1 or 2. Up here (at least in the Panhandle), most people we know have a LOT of guns. I have about 17 or so, and I think in my circle of friends I'm on the low side...

I dunno, but I think you should look to the Free Peoples Democratic Republic of Kalifornia if you don't like liberal gun laws. The Comrades of the Peoples Central Committee are making sure that law-abiding but wrong thinking anti socialist counter revolutionary forces in Kalifornia are losing their rights to gun ownership and self defense. It is rumored that re-education camps will soon be legislated into existence, so that the criminally insane who continue to insist on gun ownership and self defense can finally be helped through a combination of intensive public project labor and therapy.
First of all - I did not state anywhere that I was looking to fight gun control laws? I just wanted to know what they where -I happen to have a family that I care about
As for AZ - it is gun crazy - they take them out, shoot kids, old folks, animals, anytime andwhere, parking lots, schools?
so yes, do I want to live in this type of area - ABSOLUTELY NOT>>>
Just asking what the controls are
aas for having rifles, using them for hunting, etc - I respect and understand them for I come from a family of 4 bros that are hunters, ranchers.
So calm down everyone...
A big difference coming from AZ with kids - where anything goes - AZ is BIG CITY WILD WEST - not the west we all know

No one said you were, but if you don't like open gun laws, as it seemed from your post, then Idaho isn't the place for you.

That sounds as though AZ should have a very high violent crime rate. I checked the Uniform Crime Report for AZ and found the following:
National Violent Crime Rate 469.2
Arizona 513.2
California 526.3
So AZ is above the national average, but is below California, which has much stricter gun laws; however, as Sage wrote, the number of guns has nothing to do with violent crime, but demographics does.
