I've spent months trying to find a job around sandpoint or around idaho falls and I don't even get a nibble except one from boise that I really didnt want. I have a manufacturing, engineering and laborer background but no calls-emails nothing. I even write on my coverletter that I will pay for the relocation. Are people scared to hire out of staters or what. I'm at my wits end and thinking of giving up... Any ideas ?
Maybe sign up with a staffing agency? Also Walmart is going to hire around IF en masse in the near future, Joanne's Fabrics is opening a bigger store in IF, check out www.indeed.com too. Try SOS staffing in IF.

Idaho employment is a lot about who you know, than what you know.
Myself being a out of stater, I found about this the hard way, (unemployed at times). And it can take time and patience to find good permanent employment. Which is why a lot of people, just give up looking.
You know a lot of guys move here and then they get laid off. I know quite a few people that has had that happen to them. Work is so bad around here I am closing my shop and going to work out of state. It's tough times around here if you don't have a pension...
I think Idaho is a tough market for jobseekers outside of retail, ag, and health. If my little business closed I think I'd be SOL based on my age and background. Boise is probably the brightest spot for a diversity of opportunities and even there is not going to be anything like LA, NY, or other large metro areas.
Hang in there, and keep posting if you need support. I am working my arse off full time looking for a decent job. Just got a possible offer - 40hrs @ min wage no benes, but it beats the $20/hr x 0hrs per week I'm earning....

Hang in there...looking for a job tests all of your patience and puts your ego through the ringer. You may want to look at having a career counselor or free agency that offers resume critiques, teaches interviewing skills, etc. take a look at your materials to make sure you are selling yourself effectively.
Things are getting better in the economy so hopefully you will find something soon.
I highly recommend the services at Working Solutions through the Easter Seals/Goodwill. I have great experience and skills and present well, and all I needed was someone to hold my hand, their services are making a huge difference for me, and what a boost when they told me they want to use my CV in their trainings because it's so awesome. If you are broke they have other means to help out too, even drycleaning, which might sound extravagent but when you are unemployed you need to put your best suit forward - and it has to be clean!
