We fished Henry's Fork and Upper Coffee Pot, stared down moose, played golf, fished golf balls out of the water for resale... fun times. We were there for the 1988 Yellowstone fire. I drove back through the area in 2010, and the only thing that looked obviously different was the addition of a Subway sandwich shop across the highway from one of the resorts.

Did you notice that Mack's Inn is completely gone? Mack's burned to the ground in 1989. Only the huge stone chimney remained, and it was eventually torn down. The only thing left is the concrete pad the inn rested on.

"Mack's Inn- Where Nations Vacation" is now a memory.

Actually, the final two vacations there, when I was a teenager, took place post-fire. So yes, I knew it was gone.
