Here is a link to Art in The Park In Boise you mentioned. This is a great time, one of the largest art fairs in the Northwest.
Boise Art Museum - Art in the Park

And there is the Hyde Park Street Fair in the Northend of Boise September 16 to the 18. For those outside of Boise, the Northend is by far the largest and what I have been told is the most impressive and architectually varied historic residential neighborhood in the entire state and this festival is in a park by a historic business district in the Northend named Hyde Park. The fair is full of hippies, incense, belly dancers, artists, glass blowers, local beer and wine, music, wafting smells of ganja, families, etc...This is one of Boise's most popular yearly events.

The Northend - Boise's historic neighborhood online, schools, politics, real estate, history, hyde park, and more

Syringaloid, thanks for the info and links!

I finally got my copy of the Northwest Travel Magazine--so here are some more events:

Sept.17 at Idaho Falls: Harvest Fest. www.ifharvestfest.com

Sept. 17 at Palouse: Palouse Days. 509-878-1991, www.visitpalouse.com

Sept.17-18 at Mountain Home: Gunfighter Skies, at the Air Force Base. 208-587-2173, www.silverwingsofidaho.org (http://www.silverwingsofidaho.org - broken link)

Sept.23-24 at Coeur d'Alene: Oktoberfest, 208-667-5986, www.cdadowntown.com

Sept.23-25 at Sun Valley: Harvest Festival, 208-450-6430, www.sunvalleyharvestfestival.com

Sept.30-Nov.26 at Idaho Falls: A Grateful Nation: A Look Back at World War II, at the Museum of Idaho. 208-522-1400, www.museumofidaho.org

Besides, the October 2011 Northwest travel Magazine has a nice feature article on fall in Sandpoint, and also on the Cabinet Mountains Wilderness on the ID-MT border.
