Thinking about buying a home in the CDA area. We would live there part of the year and live back where we were born part of the year. Would my home in N. Id. be safer when we're gone if I lived in town or in the country?

There have been news reports of break-ins all over the place. It would be best in either case to have some friendly neighbor look after the place and have some timers turning on lights. If you are away in winter then get it plowed, that kind of stuff. I would pick a place more on what you want to do with it when you are here as opposed to how safe.

I would think living in a neighborhood would be better since it would be easier for your neighbors/friends to keep an eye on your place. Then again, being out on acreage, especially if secluded, is security by obscurity...

Sage of Sagle-yep, it seems ta be a 6 or a half-a-dozen of the other type of response to this question. Break-ins can occur in the city, in a small town or city and way out in the oakie-berries. It just depends. But yes, if you can put motion lights in and/or have some good friends watch your house when you're gone it will help.
