Is the older Idaho drivers license suppose to have "Idaho" and an outline of the state, in gold, diagonally across it, and that turns blue under UV light?

Is the background picture with the road and barn suppose to be a little bit blurry?

Affirmative, Bearsfan101. I am holding my "old" Idaho driver's license from not that far back, it's 2005. It has the text "Idaho" printed very lightly in gold color, diagonally printed from lower left to upper right. And it has the barn picture blurry printed in the lower right hand side of the card. Don't know about UV light properties.

Funny things is, I am now looking at my current Idaho driver's license and it is also printed the same way.

Idaho drivers licenses have been redesigned, not particularly from a design standpoint, but from some security features. They do look somewhat different, but nothing major. I believe this started in the summer of '11. My current renewal (August 2011), has more medical information on it, and is a bit cleaner overall.

Now, it's time for an Idaho license plate redesign. I understand they went to flat plates with black lettering instead of blue a couple of years ago, but the basic design now has been in place for 20+ years. Something new would be encouraged.

Thank you both for answering. I really appreciate it.

Does the picture area on the license have a blue/purple border that is thicker on the top and bottom?

If you are referring to the drivers license, there is some purple and orange-purple to the right of the picture, but mine doesn't seem thicker on the top and bottom. They do show lots of "Idaho" logo images that can be seen in certain types of light. Seems pretty hi-tech, but not sure of all the details, which is of course the point.

The plate needs a new look. As I mentioned they moved to flat plates a couple of years ago, but the look remains the same. I don't want to use the word "garish", but I would prefer an Idaho general issue plate that was a little less artsy. They were great in '92, but 20 years have past!
