I was born and raised in the Buffalo, NY area...a birth defect I corrected when I moved to NID back in '94. The only thing I miss from Buffalo...is a good order of wings! The Anchor Bar was the home of them, but I preferred the ones from a place called Duffs. Even so, every local pizzera and sub shop made very good ones. I still get a craving every once in a while.

I have yet to find a place here in the west that has even "fair" wings. Any recommendations? I've tried "Wing Stop", what a joke...dry and no flavor. There is a place in Spokane Valley, Smoking Joes IIRC, that some people recommended. Little wings, more bone than meat, and not all that great. Hooters? There are some things well worth the time there, but the wings, not so much. I liked the sweet/hot ones at Wingers, but they are by no means "authentic". Chilies is as good as any I've had locally. Hopefully someone can help me out...or maybe Duffs or the Anchor Bar ships???

edit to add
I just went back and looked...forgot I started a thread about wings bk in '09. Likes i sez...I get the craving every once in a while.

Toyman, i
I would have sure thought you would have got more love than this. They must be guarding their Hotspots. Come on guys and gals, it's not a fishing or hunting spot. It's just chicken wings!

Toyman, there's only one solution. You've gotta make your own wings. Then invite us over! Or better yet, reopen The View restaurant with Buffalo Wings specials!

I haven't answered because I haven't really found anyplace with terrific wings. Certainly not wings on par with a real Buffalo wing.

You may have to make a road trip down here to Boise and eat at Stan's Hot Dogs. The owner is a native of Buffalo and has sausage flown in each week from Buffalo. The menu has "Jumbo Buffalo Hot Wings" on it, but I have not tried them yet, but the sausages and hotdogs and haddock are all excellent. Some of the best onion rings I've had too.

Hey Toyman, they just had a show 'Throwdown with Bobby Flay' in BUFFALO at the Anchor Bar. He was going against this Wing King guy and the owner of Duffs was a judge. The local wings won!

I'll have to look for it, I'd like to see that! Now you have given me the "craving" again! BTW, thanks for the pictures from the last ride.

Very much so...can't believe it will be 20 years next July 5th. From everything I've seen, New York State has just gotten worse, more oppressive and even higher taxes than when I escaped. No regrets leaving...other than that I didn't do so earlier. Just wish our pay scales here in ID were a bit greater, but it's a fair tradeoff.
