Yep, that's about right....except we don't want it to get any bigger than it already is now.

I am, however, seriously thinking about canning the "good" paying job and heading back to buy some land up by Rathdrum, Athol, or Priest River to build something small and off-the-grid for a simpler life.

The CDA area has a lot of really good things to offer that quite frankly nothing in the Midwest has been able to offer in comparison.

Except wages and jobs. If you're serious, do your best to have a job that is either transferable or is waiting for you here.

It's very hard to be a subsistence farmer these days, but it can be done, especially if a person has a part-time job, a trade that can be done on the farmstead, or a pension. Dropping clear off the grid is harder than most folks think, and almost always amounts to living in more primitive conditions than most of us are accustomed to these days.

I grew up in the middle part of Idaho, and then lived in Moscow (close to CDA) for five years. Needless to say, it is beautiful up in Northern Idaho, especially around CDA. Summer or Winter, the town is simply stunning and always has outdoorsy stuff to do. I do know it is becoming a very popular place to move since it has become a tourist town, that is something to be cautious of. There's an amusement park that's near there, and is very popular to go to and fun to take the whole family as well.

I do hope that your family enjoys CDA!
