Mine is a Native American Indian Dog, which is apparently different than an American Indian Dog. I've uploaded a pic of mine.

If your son is that allergic, do everyone (especially the dog) a favor and don't get a dog.

Default Dog food

Regarding the food situation, there are many ways to make sure you don't have nuts in the food. You could look at a raw diet, or in Boise there's a company called Zamzows that makes their own food. They have one that's grain free, and I just looked at the bag and there are no nuts. We also get other food from that store and I haven't noticed any nuts on the label. I don't know where you are located but there's probably a way to find some kind of food without the nuts.

I never knew about the double-coated dogs until we got our shepherd mix. She doesn't look like she sheds, but boy that under coat of fine hair gets everywhere! Be aware of the breeds that have that double coat to avoid allergies.

I hope something works out for you--I know how my kids are benefitting from having a dog around.

Hun my son isn't going to die from dog allergies. He can still have a dog. We just need one that doesn't shed so much. He loves dogs why shouldn't he be like other kids and have one? There are millions of people who have dogs(and love their dogs and their dogs love them) that have allergies. Everyone seems to be doing fine.

What you said is like saying to a handicap person 'why bother putting yourself though that since your only going to suffer anyway'

That is a sad outlook and angry one.

And every dog deserves to be loved by caring people. And we care about dogs.
