Anyone curious about Idaho will want to look at this data put out by the Idaho Bureau of Vital Records and Statistics. All kinds of demographic info here. http://healthandwelfare.idaho.gov/Po...tics/final.pdf

Wow! Lotta stuff!

Who would have thought that Ethel was one of our most popular baby names?

Look again-those were the top names in 1911. Got me to. I saw Ethel and Hazel and said "NO WAY! Grandma Hazel was born in 1910, and the name is coming back?" Then I looked closer.

It is. Too bad we can't sticky it to the top of the forum. Would answer a lot of questions.

Ahhh... I missed that entirely! those names were popular 102 years ago!

I'll bet a lot of baby girls were named Ethel after Ethel Barrymore. She was the nation's biggest hottie back then.

Don't look at the list of 2011 original names. They make me cry that some people name their children these horrible names.

To all parents out there: Say your child's prospective name out loud before deciding on it. If their name is pronounced "Prejudice" or "Asthma", choose another name. I'm all in favor of original names, we have quite a few in my family that I've never met another one of, including my own...and I love having an original name. But seriously...don't torture the poor child.

We're only allowed two stickied posts per forum. But I added this link to the top of the North Idaho Resource Info thread.

Nah, It was always Lillian Gish for me. She had such soulful eyes...

Gish was popular too. I believe Lillian was another popular name back then.
