It's worse than that, IMO, but everyone I know loves it. I just go to whatever place is next door

Hey everyone!

So far we have been busy getting situated - unpacking, shopping, banking - things like that. We have seen a LOT of 95 and Government Way over the last couple days. Now we live in this area I understand that this is the "commercial" area of CDA/Hayden but we would really like to get out of the craziness and enjoy some of the "small town" and/or scenic/ natural vistas of the area. Any suggestions of where we can go to take a break and have some fun?

Also, how far down 95/Government Way is it like this? With all the traffic and shopping? To be honest, I really wasnt prepared for it to be so crowded and busy. Is it just this time of year?

You can go out Lancaster Rd and around the backside of Hayden Lake for a nice drive. You can also go up the 90 to route 97 on the backside of CDA to Harrison and actually continue all the way around back up the 95. You can go up the back of Fernan too. 95 is crazy from Ironwood to Prarie and same with Gov't way. It's all them dang tourists lol.

95 and Govt are always busy, it seems, tourist season or not.

Hayden Lake is a good idea, you could also head up 95 to Sandpoint. Try the C'da city park in the evening and take a stroll along the lake and find somewhere to eat downtown.

How about a walk on Tubbs Hill? Take 10th street toward the lake, when the street turns into Lakeshore Dr. you can park in the parking lot or street. You can park at City Hall I just think avoiding the construction is a huge plus.

Ha, we were stuck on 95 in CdA the other day, and went up Government instead. Traffic was still bad, so we went into Hasting, and OMG! I spent more money on books and DVDs in one place than I've done in years! What a place!

CDA has a great library, I must add. Right by Tubbs Hill.

I spent countless hours there in 2012 looking for work. Good place, good people, too!
