Hello. I originally posted this over at Trip Advisor but the Idaho board there doesn't get a lot of traffic. Maybe someone here can help?

We decided on a northern-Idaho vacation a little late this year and a lot of vacation rentals are booked up. By the time the end of July gets here, we'll have one almost 1-year old and a 16 year old. We're looking for a woodsy cabin that is on a lake for swimming and driving distance to other activities on days we don't want to relax at the cabin (but looking forward to mostly those).

There are a few cabins on Hauser Lake that seem to fit the bill, but I know very little about this lake. Is this a good lake for boating and swimming? We're looking for something with a little sand and shallows for the baby and a dock for the teenager to jump off of. One place seems real nice in the pictures and comes with a reasonably priced pontoon boat, but nothing beats asking a local.

Thanks for reading.

We have friends there who really like it. And it has a micro climate so it's not as hot as the adjacent Liberty Lake/Spokane Valley area.

The lake is well used all year. I can see it from my house and notice all types of people enjoying it. It is a small lake, only a mile across. We go on a party barge once in a while with neighbors and have a blast since it is 1/2 mile to the dock. We have a wash station to try to keep invasive species out of the lake and a brand new dock. There are a couple restaurants/bars that come and go but Curley's is still going. People are fishing on a daily basis.

Thanks, Sage & elousv. Sorry for not replying sooner, but my internet has been down (and Comcast customer service a never ending nightmare). Not too hot is good, because I don't want hot, fussy baby (it does have AC). And it's good to know that it's not too small to take a barge out.

Thanks again!
