Well, that explains why certain political topics, like gay marriage Idaho, get moderated and deleted, while those political topics that are right up your particular alley, stick around. It's isn't about the TOS, but what offends you and your backwoods sensibilities.

Nah.
Sage just has the good sense to keep politics in the P&OC area where it belongs. Idahoans are all very feisty when it comes to politics, and the state has always had lots of very longstanding and bitter political divisions. We're the only intermountain western state that has suffered a Governor's assassination, and that says a lot about our political feeling's depth and divisiveness.

Given that Idaho is actually 2 different states contained within one boundary, keeping religion and politics out of here is a good idea. Neither will ever find agreement here in the slightest, and more than one Idaho forum has gone completely toxic. Whenever it happens, the forum almost always ends up disappearing forever.

Sage does allow controversy here, but he enforces the politeness rule, a good thing. And he has enough sense to know when a dead end has been reached, and locks a topic up before it becomes 100 pages of repetitious back and forth. If anything, I would like to see other forums here have the same discipline.

Everyone is feisty about politics. Idahoans are not unique or special in that regard. For a state that is one of the most conservative and Republican in the nation, and has been for a very long time, the bitter political divisions are no more significant than in any other state.

The assassination happened a long time ago. not even sure how thats relavant.

The fact of the matter is that politics is discussed here, whether you're talking about guns or wolves or how liberal or conservative the state is. But the second a topic comes up that is outside of the the moderators own politics, values, or comfort zone it gets deleted. The fact that he lets his own bias influence and control the speech of this board is a disgrace and its pretty pathetic. Yes I understand this is a private forum. But go to any other subforum and the conversations that happen there are much more relaxed, open, engaging, and accurate, rather than the controlled message that results of the overmoderation here.

But what else would you expect from a retired cop but another avenue to control people?

That's baloney. I'm a progressive and Sage bends over backwards to be fair. Check out the wolf threads sometimes if you don't think we have controversy.

I don't think the debate gave us any kind of particularly negative reputation. After all, we have never elected an ex-pro wrestler as Governor yet, and there are many crackpots who run for office in states all over the nation.
Look on the bright side; at least Pro Life didn't run this time. Neither Harley D. Brown nor Walt Bayes is close to being as crazy as Pro Life is. (but both come close, for sure.)
Oh, I agree. I think it was funny in a colorful kind of way.

And there you have it.

One more cop hater posting useless crap, and using the fact that a mod is a retired officer to JUSTIFY his useless crap.

Some people really need a hug. Seriously, this thread was full of adult conversation until the typical internet troll showed up and started trying to polarize it. It gets so tiring. I sure am glad you put your personal grudges aside, as evidenced by your user name. It amazes me that people who preach tolerance are usually the most intolerant.

Well, back to the topic at hand...among us all, I think we see that several ARE in fact able to carry on reasonable discourse, even heated at times, without letting things devolve into ugliness. But in a reflection of real life...there will always be that one guy...
