We are considering moving to CDA. We are retired. Here are some questions we have:
1. Do any residences have wells for water supply, or is everyone on a water company system.
2. Anyone familiar with oncology services/doctors in the area, even as far as Spokane?
3. Is there any VA medical clinic nearby.
4. What kind of food can be grown--potatoes, apples, peaches, ???
5. Are bears a problem?
6. Any Bigfoot sightings?

That's all for now! thanks

I am also retired and looking at places to retire across the USA, I visited N Idaho a few months ago, and the only affordable homes I found were over in Spokane, and for me, Spokane is a no go. Post Falls and Hayden had some affordability in my price range, but with no acreage. Then again my price is likely lower then the OP. VA in Spokane, heard it was a decent facility, but someone at the Seattle VA told me the Spokane VA has a hard time retaining doctors. True or not, I don't know. Heavy winters there, as well. Gorgeous area though, one of my favs, I like Boise too.

Bigfoot ran an unsuccessful CDA mayoral campaign in '12 and has not been sighted since.

1. Rural acreage will require well drilling. If you're in the city you'll be on city water/sewer.
2. Plenty of good docs at KMC in CDA. Run-of-the-mill cancer docs locally. Specialists in Spokane.
3. VA is in Seattle I think.
4. We grow potatoes, lettuce, onions, garlic, tomatoes, tomatillos, peas, zucchini, squash, melons, pumpkin, raspberries, blackberries, cherries, etc.
5. We've had a couple around. Just small ones. Grizzlies don't come south of about Priest Lake or this side of Lake Pend Oreille.

I read something about that. I guess he went back home. From all reports, there's a small but stable population of Bigfoots that ramble around on either side of the border. I heard they only eat bears.

I think we'd also best mention the Pend Oreille Paddler. You are probably safer on land than out on that lake.

Excuse me, gotta run. My tin foil hat needs to be adjusted.
