no thanks. It would not work up here. I would not mind the US-95 expansion continuing through Bonner County, but not an interstate. Perhaps up through Eastern Washington?
It would work for me! If that counts . 93 is the most direct route from SoCal to Idaho, but it is a lonely two-lane road, and services/motels are few and far between. I'd take an Interstate parallel to 93 up to TF and 84 to 95 rather than go up I-15--it could save us half a day or more.

Agreed! And they should make the speed limit between Vegas and Jackpot 85mph. Can't get through there fast enough.
Is Vegas pushing for this? I agree that our highway funds are broke, we cannot keep our current roads decent, so I can't see why this is needed, other than Vegas wants more access for people to visit their casinos.

The development of I-11 would be in part for a desired NAFTA corridor for shipping between Mexico and Canada. The I-5 corridor has become too congested and a new I-11 corridor would alleviate some of that. I-11 starting in Southern Arizona at the border would intake commerce from Sonora which gives easier access into the interior of Mexico than Baja/California and I-5. It would be a vital link between the rapidly growing Pacific Northwest and Desert Southwest, and connect the two largest metropolitan areas in the US without an interstate connection, Phoenix and Las Vegas. Phase II would be up to Reno. A Nevada to Idaho interstate connection would be in the distant future.

It's an idea at this point. Though some sections between Las Vegas and Phoenix have already been upgraded, like the new Tillman Bridge bypassing the Hoover Dam. Building past Las Vegas going to Reno is a long way off, let alone getting up to Idaho, that's light years away.
Just saying taht idea's turn to action, and the costs involved just to GPS the route, do geological tests, engineering studies and since it crosses thousands of miles of BLM lands, it would require EAs, that can take years, but cost quite a bit of dollars. So even before they say yea or nea, it costs the government millions that is not available in the highway funds.

Note that the proposal has I-11 stopping at I-84, so it doesn't seem it would have much of an impact on the Sandpoint area.
