CDA seems as worthy of break-out from the Idaho forum as Boise or Idaho Falls.

Its issues are markedly different from those of the surrounding north Idaho areas.

I feel the same as CFF if that matters. I don't think the traffic warrants it.

I just looked up the census numbers for the two areas and the Coeur d'Alene MSA grew more than 100% from 1990 to today. The Idaho Falls MSA grew about 51% in the same time period.
While I believe I understand your point, CdA is part of the Spokane metro.

I can see pros and cons of a CdA sub-forum. Technically, the cities of Meridian, Nampa and Pocatello have a larger city census than C'dA. What should happen to those cities?

We rarely can get new Pocatello or Rexburg residents to post in the Idaho Falls sub-forum. Depending on the area included or not, at some point it does become difficult to post about one's area of the state and even read the main ID forum.

Conversely, probably 1/3 or 1/4 posts in the main ID thread asks about Cd'A. That gets old too.

I don't know the answer except to support a previous suggestion of exactly what cities are included.

In many ways this illustrates a picture of ID geographically as the south is easier to split off in sub-forums. It 's like no air service to C'dA from the east side of the state as well.

Good luck decision makers. I don't know how those decisions are made.

What I did was bookmarked the link above the sub-forums box
entitled "Merged threads from all Idaho sub-forums" so when I come
to the site I see every thread in the order they were last posted in.
Please disregard if you already knew about that.

Concerning the OP, a CDA sub-forum is a good idea.
In the way that Pocatello/Blackfoot are discussed in "IF",
and the way Meridian/Nampa/Caldwell are discussed in "Boise",
all of NID could be covered in a "CDA" sub-forum.
I.e., from Bonner's Ferry to St. Maries.

But then that would be a north Idaho sub forum, not a CdA sub forum.

Coeur d'Alene and Spokane have separate Metropolitan Areas. They were recently combined as a new Combined Statistical Area but they still maintain separate MSAs. In the same manner, the Idaho Falls Metropolitan Area and the Blackfoot Micropolitan Area are separate MSAs but are combined into a single CSA. My point was that more people live in Kootenai county than in Bonneville+Jefferson counties and that the Coeur d'Alene area is growing faster, so it makes just as much sense to have a CDA sub-forum as an Idaho Falls sub-forum.

Personally I don't care if a new sub-forum is created or not, I just always thought it was strange there wasn't one.

CDA is the hub of NID.
That was my thinking there.
I don't care one way or the other.

First time I've heard St. Maries referred to as the south end of north Idaho.

I can assure you the folks in Moscow disagree...

Back to the original topic-I agree CDA is a bit of a hub for north Idaho. That's part of why I feel it is as worthy of a sub-forum as I.F. and Boise. Hubs have different issues than their surrounding, more rural areas.
