Didn't see this explicitly addressed based on a search result.

What are the recommended gun stores and reloading supply shops in Kootenai County? Which shops are not quite so highly recommended? I could always go to Spokane, but would rather spend my money locally. Could use a recommendation for a good gunsmith too. Need to get some trigger work done.

I could also use a recommendation as to where to get the training required to satisfy the Enhanced ID CCW permit requirement.

Well, Black Sheep in CDA is my favorite sportsmans store. Hunting, handguns, archery (hunting-oriented more than target archery...for target archery you should go to NW Pony Express near the Silverlake Mall), fishing, camping, boating.

For gunsmithing, I use Jim's Gunsmithing: 11355 N Government Way Hayden Lake, ID 83835
(208) 762-1165

He's done work on a couple of my guns and he's a stand up guy.

For a CCW course, there are several options. In my view the best one is Ed Santos at Center Target Sports in Post Falls.

You could also take a trip to Cabela's in Post Falls (exit 1 off 90) their reloading supplies are starting to pick up again.

While on the subject, do any of you have a FFL you would recommend for transfers (for online gun purchases)? I've always had a good FFL "friend" and would expect to not pay more than $20 for the service. Feel free to PM the contact info if you wish.

Thanks!

I would like to know this recommendation also.

Yeah. They do have a lot of my hard-earned money. It's a neat place. A 'toy store' for big boys. I found that Black Sheep, (across the parking lot from Costco), has better prices and a bit more friendly salespersons.

Sagle Sam;
Riverman Guns, behind Texas Road House, does transfers for I think $25. I've done a couple through NW Pony Express. I think they charged $30.

Thanks cujo! $25 isn't outrageous. I'd still hope I could find someone reliable who could do it for $20, which I think is not unreasonable fro 15 mins of work.

We always stop at the Pony Express, just to see what they've got, and shoot the breeze. Where else can you find cool vintage guns and guitars in the same room?

Yeah, NWPE is THE PLACE to go for target archery stuff. There's an old guy in there (Bill? Bob?) who has forgotten more stuff than most of us even know about archery...
