I have to wonder about our judges and our entire criminal justice system. This was just one more piece of human refuse that the police had caught and arrested multiple times. Yet time after time our system turned him back on the streets to prey on more innocent people. Sadly this time it was a cop that was the victim. I wouldn't wish it on anyone, but justice would be served if it had been a judge or parole board member. It isn't just this one, how many cases of murderers do you read about where they have a rap sheet pages long and are out on parole or served a trivial sentence? This revolving door system needs to end.

Thought go out to the officer's family and friends. Hope the perp ends up meeting a timely end in prison.

Again, we can't count on our courts to ensure justice. Back in the 90s we had a scumbag ambush a female state trooper in the parking lot of the state police building on Prairie Ave. He put many rounds up to her, including one that paralyzed her. He then reloaded, walked up to her, put a gun to her head and executed her. Even after that the judge didn't see fit to sentence him to the death penalty. IMO judges that allow criminals to serve less than the maximum legal sentence should be personally responsible for any crimes they commit when let out.

So sorry to see and read this news tonight locally here in Hawaii. My deepest condolences to the police officers family. May he rest in peace.

I heard that. My condolences to the officer's family and friend and fellow workers. And I agree, the guy who did it, if found guilty needs to go under a needle (or whatever they use in ID).

Capital crimes, where there the proof is irrefutable (not circumstantial) needs a quick track to the table (or like UT, the squad).

Too many liberal judges and parole boards are allowing dangerous criminals out on the streets! But I don't see it getting any better.

It's true.

We just moved to a new neighborhood - a nice neighborhood - here in Boise. Unfortunately, two houses down we have some people living there that the cops have been at weekly. Lots and lots of cops. These people's rap sheet is longer than the day is long. Serious stuff, too. Drug charges, resisting arrest, DUI, grand theft... they have it all. You have to wonder how and why they keep getting released.

I agree. The revolving door needs to end.

In the midst of the grief and outrage we need to celebrate a little ray of sunshine here in this forum: Apparently there is something we can all agree on! And I am not being flippant.

Personally, I think I'd prefer a firing squad. We could raise money for the family by auctioning off slots on the squad.

Ill miss Moore. He was one of the top reasons I stayed in HS even when I hated it. 12 years later I still saw him all the time and I was proud to call him a friend. Crappy day. All the crappy cops and people in the world, and we lost a great one. Sounds horrible, but I wish they would have killed that guy on sight, instead of spending money to prosecute and incarcerate him.
