I think it will be fun to share information about Idaho's tiny towns (pop under 2,000) and in addition to finding new places to visit, I hope it will help with their economies.

First review:

Spirit Lake. What a glorious find. This is the real deal...everything Idaho means to me. Town has a special, historic ambience and the lake is pristine and remote. They are pulling themselves up and developing plans to be more attractive and I want them to suceed.

The oldest bar in Idaho, a room with no TV and shared bath for $43.00 (stay there, anyway). Very close, yet far. Nice relaxed feeling during the week in summer.

Pop: just under 2,000 and growing. More: Spirit Lake, Idaho, Chamber of Commerce - Positivity in Action

Great topic! I know nothing about it, but I'd be happy to learn.

Oh wait, I did stop in Harrison, ID on my vacation because Coeur d'Alene was full of triathletes. Very cute little town on the lake. Nice small marina and some cool looking restaurants. Had some delicious huckleberry ice cream at the creamery. (My husband (an Oregonian) noticed that the ice cream was from Oregon, though.) The trail of the Coeur d'Alenes goes through there, but it was too crazy hot for us that day to get our bikes out.

Love, love, love Harrison and it was going to be my next post. The Marina owner asked me if I wanted to live in Harrison and I said, yes and he said, good, because we are tired of seeing the same 200 people. And Banjo wrote to me that only a true Idahoan would appreciate that...thanks Banjo.

Best ice cream I've ever had in my life. We were at the lake for a week a few years ago and had to make multiple runs to Harrison to stock up on quarts of that huckleberry ice cream because we kept running out.

I look forward to the other suggestions and see if I can visit any on my next trip up.

Heck, by Idaho standards, Spirit Lake is a metropolis. If you want small, try Vay (ok, not really a town), Calder, Avery, Yellow Pine, Santa, Harvard, etc. Lots of towns with a pop <100 in this state.

Well...the OP did say under 2000...not under 100. When I think of "tiny town" I think of Clark Fork...

Island Park.
The city limits might be 40 miles long, but there are only about 500 full time residents who live there.

Trout.
Island Park has lots and lots of great big trout. And it's great country to snowmobile in during the winters.
