Are there any school districts in Idaho with non-traditional calendar breaks? Where we currently live, schools get out in early June, go back in late July but have a two week break in October, December and March. We really love the schedule. Having vacation time when most people are in school means wherever you go, crowds are light and the vacation is cheap.

Anything like that anywhere in Idaho?

Yes.
In some places in S. Idaho, kids are given a break to go help harvest the potato crop. The time varies, but i know of one district that has a 2-week break for this.

When I was a kid, every school district from Boise southward had a Spud Vacation. Back then, harvesting was much less automated than it is now, so many extra hands were needed to beat the weather. Those days are gone, but there are still a lot of small districts that depend on the farmers and their crops.

I wish. a year around schedule would prepare kids for real life. Summers off is such a waste as there are so many activities the school could be doing to teach kids about nature and I believe it would help parents as well. Kids get bored with that much time off, and when they go back to school, so much time is waste re-acclimating them to what they learned last year.
