I want to have a 208 landline! I will not accept anything less!
In SoCal we've seen a number of new area codes introduced over the years, especially in the 1990s. We've lost track of acquaintances who all of a sudden were assigned new area codes, and we've had to change business cards and letterhead (before we all went digital) because of the new imposed codes. It seems to be stabilized now, but it was very disruptive; no such thing as being allowed to keep one's area code while living at the same address. At least the new ID area code introduction seems to take a more sensible path.
In GA we've had both, area codes for specific areas and the whole state. We've had different area codes over the years as they were added, we moved, dropped the landline, picked up a cell line, etc. Home phone had a different area code than the cell phone, really wasn't a big deal, it really becomes second nature.

We just ordered our landline a couple weeks ago, and we're lucky enough to get a 208 number. I'm thinking about converting my cell numbers even though we aren't moving until next year.
My son's Cell Phone Area code is different from My Cell Phone A/C. My Office is in a 3rd Area code, my Personal EFax (was have canceled it now) was in a 4th Atlanta Metro area code
Most of the rest of the country has learned to dial 10 digits, Idaho will adjust. I found it so odd, when I first got here and people only had 7 digits on their business cards. I guess they are going to have to have some reprinted.

Yes, it is funny how NID still has the 7 digit mentality, especially being so close to WA. We have the 208 area code on our phones, and that does carry favor with the locals.

I bet the cell phones will have the new area code if you do not convert now?
Just saying, good luck.
