I have a hard time believing these statistics: Idahoans are much less fulfilled than Montanans?

https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/...98&tid=ss_mail

And Idaho has fallen 11 points in well-being in the index since last year? What gives? (The article provides zero explanation.)

On second thought, maybe we should promote this. Idaho is a sad, gloomy place. Don't even think of moving there!

Hi CFF,

I'm no expert here so I tried to search for the metrics. Maybe this will help. On Idaho, think $. MT has that sweet area by Bozeman, or several, owned as second or third homes by Billionaires.

The explanation says even a small difference in states will change the status. MT has less residents and a major pocket of wealth.

Good luck learning more from this: Hawaii Reclaims Top Spot in U.S. Well-Being

The problem with many of these surveys is they are limited in who they contact. Generally, they contact via land line phones and there are a lot of people in this day-and-age who only have cell phones. (I have not had a land line since 2000.) And when I first moved here, I still had an area code from a state east of the Rockies even though I lived in UT for almost six years.

And many research groups do not like calling cell phones, even though it is legal even if the number is listed on the do not call registry, since it is still against Federal law to use an automated dialer to contact cell phones, so it is more labor intensive.

As for the statistics. I have not lived here long enough to get a feeling for the people; especially since in person I am as friendly as a stepped on rattlesnake.

Don't let f5 fool ya, folks. I've met him. A rattlesnake is a LOT friendlier.

I agree, f5. Most regulars here know I don't fit into what would be considered a common demographic for Idaho, to say the least, but I've always been happier here than in any of the other states I've lived in, and my friendships and other relationships have always been much more broad in every direction than a typical survey would ever discover. I am not their common link; almost all know each other through others as well as me.

Lots of folks with all kinds of differences get along with each other better here than I've seen in other places. I never take any of that survey stuff seriously.

All we have to do is walk 1 mile to the MT border, set up lawn chairs for the afternoon on the MT side, and be happy! Then we can walk home and have dinner and be sad and unfulfilled.

I guess someone in Idaho did not answer the phone, to get in on the survey! We connot afford to live in Hawaii. But we are in good health, and they poll the other Billionaires in the Islands, who are happy to live here in the winter, and Can work out regularly!
