This was the worst fire year I've seen in a very long time down here. About 59,000 acres of prime farm and rangeland lit up, and it's not all over yet.

So, to me, this was a bad fire year, no matter what someone else says about it.
Personally, I think the writer was way premature in calling this a light season. It's very dry, and we could be seeing fires throughout September and October, possibly into November as well. If it stays dry and hot for the season, they could even extend into December.

Late season fires can become big ones when the conditions are right. It ain't over yet folks, and won't be until snow hits the ground and sticks to it.

And I sure hope it doesn't happen!
Agreed!!!

The pioneer fire destroyed my vacation to the sawtooths... The smoke was so bad in stanley I could hardly get out of the car to pee. Did not get clean air till I was almost in montana. Boise looked like L.A.. Infact I started to see the smoke while I was around the nevada border. I just hope it helps reduce the bark beatle. Fires blow, but in 5 to 10 years it will be prime habitat for wildlife.

Default Henry's Creek: Started by a Man

Today we learned the 50,000+ acre Henry's Creek Fire was caused by a person, and truly was not a Wildfire. Early on there was discussion of this being started by a person. However, as the fire continued to grow and LEO were swamped ensuring humans and as many livestock as possible were moved to safety, not as much if anything, was said about the etiooogy of the fire. LEO easily could have opted to be quiet while continuing their investigation. Or the information could have been recently learned, since the man is incarcerated for another charge currently. Regardlesss of when the perpetrator was determined, the damage has already been done.
