Hello all!
I am a Latin American living in Nampa, Id (not surprisingly), and attending NIC exclusively online. After reading through several forums about about CDA, I've come to see that there are so many accepting, genuine people! Even when it comes to the hot topics going around the nation right now. My question is, does anyone know if there is social divide between communities such as Native Americans, Asian Americans, Latino Americans, African Americans, LBGT people, law enforcement, people in poverty, and so on?

I would love any insights you may have!

Go and see. You aren't all that far away and you are doing business (school) online, which you could do at the library, especially if you have a laptop. There is no reason you can't go and spend a week or two.

Walk around, observe. No one can tell you how you will react to the area or how the area will react to you.

Search is your friend. Been covered 100000000000000000000x times. To put it bluntly, you will be fine, just like everyone else who has started a subject on this same topic.

[mod cut] Remember that if you start looking for lines of social division, you are likely to find them, to some degree; that doesn't mean they are necessarily part of the everyday experience of living in CdA.

[mod cut] Thanks so much for the replies! I know I could Google the heck out of the subject and I have.

[mod cut]...come on up for a weekend, and interview people--and report on what they say, not just what you read on Google. If no particular divides are reported, then say so. Even if it may not fit the prompt! ("Research, describe and evaluate the social divides that may exist between social subgroups in CdA"--does that sound somewhat like your project?

^ What CFF said.

Seriously, if you want the truth, you have to experience it yourself. Researching from a bubble using biased guidance and tainted resources will not validate your results, even if they satisfy the implied narrative that initiated the original question.

[mod note] To members of the Idaho forum. Using the C-D forums for research by students working on school projects is very highly discouraged and is usually not allowed. Those threads are quickly deleted and the member is usually banned. Personally, as long as it doesn't happen very often, I don't mind. This thread was closed at the OP's request because he/she wishes to post his/her query differently. With minor cleanup, this thread is kept as part of the archive system here at C-D, (another thing that is 'standard' policy). Please be respectful in the new thread. If you don't want to contribute . . . then don't. [/mod note]
