...again--I had not heard of this...anyone familiar with this case..does the media have it right..or garbled?

Is this a case of religious freedom gone awry....or is it the inevitable cost of said freedom?

Mormons in the state legislature refuse to rectify this lest
they invite closer scrutiny into their own church's practices.

The case has been going on for quite a while, Fleegle.
Around 2 years or more, I think. The sect mentioned in the article is quite small, and live in one of the really little towns in the Treasure Valley that's out on the edge of the Owyhee desert, if I recall.

Selway's wrong about this; the Mormons don't have any restrictions that pertain to faith healing, and they are just as quick to seek medical attention for a child as anyone else, but Idaho is home to other sects that don't believe in doctors, and never seek medical help.

Given Idaho's libertarian ways, I don't think any law that requires a parent to get medical attention for a child is going to ever pass. Until law enforcement has a law to enforce, there's very little they can do about the situation.

Probably not much, because it's very old news.
