Today, Rathdrum was Idaho's "Capital for the Day". The governor and about nine of his staff came up from Boise and spent the day with us. Mostly like a town hall meeting where he and his staff answered question from community members. It was nice to see the local high school send several classes over and they were given priority to ask some questions as they had to get back to school at lunchtime.
The governor was very patient with those who had an "ax to grind". He let them go on for as long as they wanted, then politely answered their questions. Must say that I was impressed with him and his staff. Seems a very level-headed guy. Some will not agree with his policies, but you have to give it to him that he loves Idaho and wants what is best for her, (in his viewpoint).
Most productive was the Governor's Lunch where I was able to meet individually with several of his staff. I think I found my next "cause". That being getting a Idaho State Veteran's Cemetery in North Idaho. There is a state veteran's cemetery in Boise, a new one in Blackfoot, and a new national cemetery going in at Buhl. But, nothing in North Idaho. One was in the works till the feds authorized a national cemetery next to Fairchild. But, I don't want to be buried in Washington, I want to be buried in my home state. Going to be a long, tough road to get a state cemetery here.
