I'm moving to a townhouse in twin falls, and I asked the property manager - who works for a pretty large corporation across the US - whether sparklight or CenturyLink was the best option.

She immediately pointed me to CenturyLink, along with a "community code" to use ( which I assume grants her company a commission possibly ).

Do you prefer Sparklight or Centurylink in general ?

I don't game.

Just need to stream netflix, hulu, etc at night. and during the day, log on to my s/w development job which doesn't require much bandwidth.

Absolutely without hesitation Sparklight has it all over Centurylink. Centurylink's customer service first of all sucks BIG time. Their consistency of their speeds is all over the place and goes down far too often. I've been with Sparklight now going on 3 1/2 years and they've been not only bulletproof, consistent and reliable but their customer service is superb. Their tech support is as well. No question about it go Sparklight or you'll end up sorry.

Your reply plus the fact that CenturyLink went down this morning convinced me, thank you

You won't regret going with Sparklight. They are great to work with. I use their internet package that gives me 300mbps which thus far is all I've ever needed, and I do a LOT of streaming. For the heck of it at some point I may go with their Gigabit package. Those speeds are insane and you also get a chunk more download space as well.
