Can anyone out there honestly tell me the state of Special Education in the Couer D'Alene area Public Schools? Especially as it pertains to Autism? We want to move there to raise our kids, but we have 2 kids on the Autism Spectrum, and are afraid that even though we have sound IEP's, the services just won't be there. I've spoken to the coordinator of the Special Needs Pre-School, as she says Idaho has some of the best programs in the west, and that a lot of people in other western states are moving there to take advantage of their programs. Can anybody offer me any insight? I'd really appreciate it.

My sons go to Dalton Elementary and I am a Cub Scout leader. There is a boy with Aspbergers syndrome in our cub scout den who is mainstreamed in a regular class. He does have an all day assistant who keeps him from wandering off. My son is deaf on one ear and they go out of there way to make sure that he get front row seating in class and do other things to make sure he doesn't miss out on anything.

I would contact the Coeur d'Alene Schools and discuss your concerns with them. There website can be found at Welcome to Coeur d'Alene Schools
