Just a word of advice.

I turned in my new voter registration at the same time and place I surrendered my CDL for an IDL, and, growing suspicious after 4 weeks, discovered that the small town I registered in had failed to forward my voter reg to the County Registrar, and no, that is not normal in this County.

I've advised the Secretary of State, but I'd caution anyone who has relocated to contact your County Registrar and confirm your voter registration status.

This is a very important election year. Excellent advice!

OK Been there done that got it done! Thanks again for the reminder. Also when/ if you have a post office box you need proof of your physical address with you when you go to register. We knew that because we called ahead of going down to the court house.

Regarding the voter registration, how far in advance of the election does this need to be done? I am moving to Idaho next month. Will that be too late to change my registration for November's election?

I don't know, isn't there a deadline in early October? I'd contact the registrar of voters in the county you are moving to, but you also might want to consider remaining registered where you are and voting absentee.

Thanks for your reply!

I'm not sure if what you suggested is a possibility. I moved last year to a different state. I knew it was going to be temporary, so I never really registered in the state I'm currently living in (neither of these two states are Idaho). However, the address that's connected with me through the state I am registered in is no longer valid (for me, anyway).

Apparently I wasn't exactly forward-thinking with all this.

Any suggestions?

I'd register where you are going asap. Call your registrar.

I don't have an address yet (I am moving there and then finding somewhere to live).

I would need an home address to register, correct?

I'm specifically moving to Idaho Falls.

Call the registrar. Ask if you can use a General Delivery address ie Western Heart, General Delivery, Idaho Falls, Idaho.
