Almost the record session with no real end in site. The Gov has vetoed over thirty bills this week to send a message to the leg to pass his roads plan. The House speaker says he will not relent, nor does the gov. There is really no compromise in sight. You'd think we have a split government or something.

The senate is more or less powerless here. Until the house passes a road plan the governor thinks is acceptable.

Default Idaho Legislature -- will it ever grow up?

I have given up on trying to understand where the Idaho House of Representatives is coming from. To me it is ridiculous that the most heavily Republican Legislature in the country cannot agree with the Governor on most issues. Now, even the two houses can't agree with each other.

I'd like to know what other frustrated Idahoans think about this travesty. Has Idaho ever had a worse performing Legislature than the current one?

Yeah my opinion is generally that a gridlocked government is better than one that feels empowered to pursue some kind of agenda. In this economy (and in any economic environment, really) I think it's most important that government control its costs and therefore I side with the legislature. It seems like Otter is putting his ego (his pet highway projects) as government's top priority. This country is already economically uncompetitive and losing jobs overseas; the last thing we need is a higher tax burden!

The legislature is a mess because they always battle against the reps from Boise and the Great State of Ada. They never accomplish anything because all they do is fight and bicker.

Thus reinforcing fact that no matter where politicians fall in the political spectrum, by there very nature they will be petty, argumentative, and get little accomplished....

That's because they don't represent the people. They are interested in their public service career and not the public they serve.
