Just got back from the Cottonwood Campground at CJ, and the crappies are in the shallows around the boat dock getting ready to spawn. I caught a crappie on just about every cast using a chartruse Roadrunner, and lots of others were caught on curly tail **** under bobbers. Most were around 8"-10", but I did catch a few 12"-13". Also managed to hook a nice bass, but he shook off before I could get him in.

I have to ask a question that will reveal my ignorance: Where is CJ? I guess if I have to ask, the message was not meant for me!

So why does the phrase "drinks like a fish" come to mind?

Seriously that's a sad sight.

According to my website:

C. J. Strike
South of Mountain Home, Idaho on State Route 51 to the town of Bruneau, then west on State Route 78. This popular 7,500 acre fishery for both cold water and warm water species was formed by damming both the Snake and Bruneau Rivers. Interesting angling for the prehistoric sturgeon occurs at the dam. These catch and release monsters can go up to 10 feet long and 300 pounds. Surrounded by the Snake River Birds of Prey National Conservation Area and close to Bruneau Sand Dunes and the Bruneau Dunes State Park, this site is loaded with sightseeing adventures. Camping, boating, fishing.

It's near Bruneau, about an hour and a half drive from Boise.

Thanks, guys! We've been through Idaho from north to south, and east to west, several times, and there are lots of places we haven't seen yet. This one goes on our list!

Most people use oily fish like a large chunk of mackerel or a whole smelt or herring.
