I was at the upper Missouri River fishing one day when I noticed a normally beautiful Blue Sucker right at the riverbank, I looked at it real close as it sluggishly moved away from me and it had a giant tumor on it's back. I moved away from it so the poor thing could have a bit of peace while it dies.

"FISH WORSHIP, IS IT WRONG" ? !

Environmentalists continue to put pressure on the sport of fishing and the poor fishermen who participate. Some of their complaints are well founded, since there are some fishermen who have little regard for the environment. Putting an end to this enjoyable recreation is the apparent goal of a handful of the so-called tree huggers, but to punish all for the stupidity of a few has no merit.

Don't get me wrong. I hate those (fishermen and otherwise) who have no respect for our great outdoors.

For years, the scientific community has determined that fish felt no pain (in the human sense) from the rigors of being the prey of the sport fisherman. That assumption included pain associated with being impaled on a fishing hook. Now, new research has added to the tree-huggers arsenal.

A study done by an animal sciences researcher at Purdue University believes that fish do, in fact, feel pain. Read about it here:

Fish May Actually Feel Pain And React To It Much Like Humans Do

If you are a fisherman/fisherlady, I'd like to know your feelings about this study and issue.

Thumbs up Wriggling fingers ?

These scientists and researchers inflict pain and stress capturing animals to tag, collar and study. I am in more pain every day from my normal ailments than any fish experiences being caught and released by fishermen. Oh by the way I use "tree Huggers for BAIT ! Their still wriggling fingers are irresistible to large Walleye !

rickers, you might like this one:

The Pope took a couple of days off to visit the mountains of
Idaho for some sightseeing. He was cruising along in the Pope Mobile when there was a frantic commotion just at the
edge of the woods.
A helpless environmental activist, wearing sandals, shorts,
a 'Save the Whales' hat, and a 'To Hell with
Bush' T-shirt, was screaming
while struggling frantically, thrashing around trying to
free himself from
the grasp of a 10-foot grizzly bear.

As the Pope watched horrified, a group of
loggers came racing up. One quickly fired a .44
magnum into the
bear's chest. The other two reached up and pulled the
bleeding,
semi-conscious tree hugger from the bear's grasp. Then,
using long clubs, the
three loggers finished off the bear and two of them threw
it into the back of their pickup while the third tenderly placed the injured
tree hugger in the back
seat.

As they prepared to leave, the Pope summoned
them to come over. 'I give you my blessing for your
brave actions!' he told
them. 'I heard there was a bitter hatred between
loggers and
environmental activists, but now I've seen
with my own eyes that
this is not true.'

As the Pope drove off, one of the loggers
asked his buddies, 'Who was that guy?'

'It was the Pope,' another replied. 'He's
in direct contact with heaven and has access to all
wisdom.'

'Well,' the logger said, 'he may have access
to all wisdom, but he sure don't know anything about
bear hunting! Is the
bait holding up, or do we need to go back to Massachusetts
and get another
one?

Great, very funny story, Toyman!

Hmmmm....Massachusetts you say. Naw, too far. We found a bunch of bait in California.

I like it, I like it ! There are huge Macs in that lake as well as our Flathead Lake here in Montana. I like to fish the smaller mountain lakes where wind isn't as much as an issue.

Great story. Maybe when I sell and get out of here, I can bring up some tree huggers and we can troll with em. Might catch a giant sturgeon or walleye.
