And now we're having hail-sleet-rain, in that order.

I'm fairly sure this is your fault.

Natural Grocers opened today in CDA, nice store. I know Boise beat us to have the first Trader Joe's in ID.

Couple big projects going on up here. First is Kootenai Medical $57M expansion project and second is Alliance Data call center that will employ about 200 people.

Default Finally made it!

Check out my new "location"! We finally made it here! I can now proudly claim to be an Idahoan (unless there's some sort of entrance exam before I earn the title).

I just talked to a good spud farmer this morning.
He thinks that within a week to 10 days, he'll be sinking plows in the ground. That's awfully early, but I can remember one year in the 90's that was so warm and dry they were prepping the fields in the middle of February. Typically, they don't begin until the end of March to mid-April.

I moved my lawn that year for the first time at the end of February. I believe it was 1992.

I'm beginning to worry about folks who have a lot of snow close to where they live. There was a terrible avalanche inside the Missoula city limits a week or so ago that killed one adult and sent another and 2 kids to the hospital; the little boy nearly died, but rescuers dug him out in the nick of time.

Avalanches scare me, but floods do the most damage. The ground is still frozen here. Too much runoff too soon can cause major flooding. Back in 1960, when I was a kid, we had a chinook in January where the days got up into the 60's, and started a major flood. The Snake and all the canals that ran through town were all full and full of ice floes. We had to sandbag like crazy and dynamite the floes to save our bridges. A lot of folks who lived in the country sustained flood damage.

This stuff doesn't happen very often, but it happens. It's always good to be alert once the air quits smelling like winter.

The 90 going over lookout was closed last week for avalanche threat. The flooding washed out a chunk of road in Hayden that two cars drove into with luckily minor injuries reported.

They opened up one here in I.F. at the same time. Nice looking store, but I haven't been in it yet.

We (CDA) are also getting a Golden Corral.
With a casual decor, the place will seat 110 customers and have an area for private gatherings. Parking will have 140 spaces.
Hours will be 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily with breakfast possibly added later. It will have 60-70 employees. The local owners are from Bayview.
