I think that Scotch Broom smells nice, but if you have any of that, rip it out before it spreads.

I love Scotch Broom, but we don't have it on our property, and the bloom is over in July-August when we're usually in NID. And Jasmine is lovely--but in that case someone would have to sneak in and plant them, and water them for us. I'll probably have to wait and do some hands-on research next summer when the fragrance is back!

Pretty good overview of invasive species; this is for WA but pretty much applies across the northwest (tho state regs vary).

It is starting. Not quite the first robin of spring, but spring is definitely almost here.

I got a phone call from the mail order nursery. They are shipping bare root trees and needed a substitute for my order. Costco yesterday had bare root fruit trees, but it looked like they are almost all Asian pears, but I hope there will be a better selection pretty quick.

Yikes, my yard is still covered in snow and ice and it will be months before new plants can be put into the ground.

Good to hear than spring is starting--at least emotionally! We need to start a "Peeper" watch.

Freezing Idaho Falls, too! -5º here Wednesday night.
That's cold for March! But a little snow followed, and that's always good.

I love Mendocino! Such a quaint town. And it was used as a location in the old James Dean movie East of Eden.

We don't have peepers down here in SoCal (I think) but our canyon below is full of singing frogs. And spring has arrived in full force. It's the best time of year right now down here.
