Trader Joe's gave up on the idea of a store in Spokane. Here's where you can send a request about a new location:
http://www.traderjoes.com/location_requests_form.aspx

I got it from this Facebook page:
Bring Trader Joe's to Coeur D'Alene, Idaho | Facebook

Good luck! I don't know what we'd do without TJ--we're in-between two of them here in SoCal, and sometimes we think it's just too far to drive. It's about 12 miles in either direction. Shame on us! Every time we drive back "home" to NID we have the car loaded with TJ items to give to friends. No, I'm not saying when we're coming up!

Yeah, TJ is just awesome. You can get finer quality food for half the price of grocery stores. I did most of my shopping at TJ. That tells me something about this area of the US when businesses don't want to expand (economy sucks too hard for them to do any business)... scary.

well, when I lived on the front range in CO, TJ's wasn't even there!!! It wasn't b/c of the economy, but something to do with state business laws. I cannot recall exactly what....I don't think they are in CO these days, either....

So, don't know what the deal is for spokane, or idaho...but maybe it's not the poor economy?
Anyway, irrelevant to thread, but chiming in....

Yeah, TJ's still not in CO. I've never even been to one, so I happily don't know what I'm missing.

Spokane/North ID probably don't have enough of the type of clientele such a place would cater to.

Spokane has Huckleberry's and World Market which between the two can help make up for not having Trader Joe's.
We're lucky in that we live close to the WA border so we can buy groceries there and avoid the sales tax. Though I'm currently avoiding the Safeway in Newport. Their produce prices are off the charts. A red bell pepper there costs $2.99. In Mitchell's (in Priest River) a much fresher and larger red bell pepper was .69 cents.
