It all depends on what you are looking for, I moved here from London, England 5 years ago and I have a hard time living in Idaho. I explain it in more detail in this post: //www.city-data.com/forum/idaho...-et-idaho.html
It is hard to get opinions from other people, especially because everyone sees things differently. Fab

We moved from Sacramento to Coeur d Alene 14 years ago. Have not regretted it for a day. You do have to get used to lots of gray skies in the winter months but when spring comes out and the sun starts shining you remember why you moved here.

moved from denver, colorado. is it what i expected. NOOOOOO. thought i did my research but did not do it thoroughly. thought it was going to be similiar to denver but on a smaller version. the boise area is quickly approaching 600,000 but "lives" like a city much much smaller.

Pros: weather is mild, not much snow; great wilderness areas are very close; public schools are ok; traffic in downtown is light even in rush hour; you can fly direct to most major cities on the west coast; inexpensive to register your car; great mountain biking in the foothills

Cons: very suburban feel whether you live in the suburbs or not; very hot (many days over 100) in the summer; very high property taxes in the city of Boise; very weak live music (other than local bands); food scene is mediocre at best; retail shopping is ho-hum unless you love the retail chains

Default from Europe To Idaho

Hi there, im a student from Malta, Europe, and would like to visit Idaho, i had friends that visited 2 years ago and i recall them saying it was a beautiful time especially for the wilderness. i'de like to visit for the same reason, to enjoy the wilderness and experience something different to the European system.
How difficult is it to have a working experience over there for a short period of time, say a couple of months. i studied languages and that is my forte, i speak Maltese, English, Italian and French all fluently, i have a good understanding of spanish too, and i had basic lessons in russian over here.
i worked for a language school which is one of the biggest industries since Malta is a touristic island, and the job also included directing and managing activities.
can anyone tell me where should i look at for information regarding work, especially with linguistic abilities? i don't know much about the system over there, i'de immagine its different from the European way when applying for jobs but again i don't know.
Thank you.

i didnt know there was another malta in idaho!!i wonder whats the connection, its seems like a good way to start the connection!i just consulted wikipedia and it says "Malta, Idaho is named after the Republic of Malta. George Wilcox Burridge served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Replublic of Malta from 1853 to 1855. A relative of his later ran the first post office in the unnamed Idaho town and chose the name Malta"

Hey There,
Just moved to Idaho a little less than a year now, and put my house on the market and moving back to California.
Many reason not all bad! But I too wanted a better life nice cummunity no traffic ,smog, rude people, new home for my family and just now figured it out for myself that happiness is where you decide to get it from! your friends family, neighbors, church, who you decide to share your life with.
I thought start all new!!! WRONG!!! You are who you are because of all those
people that you have shared your life with they can not be replaced.
You can add new wonderful people if you find them.
I have not yet met anyone here, Idaho has left me sad thinking that not everyone wants to meet new friends especially people from California?
Dont no why?
But one thing is forsure Idaho has traffic, smog, rude people also,So for me
I would rather be maybe not in such a new home but with the people who love me....

i moved here from seattle in 04.. and I love it here.. the sun shines, its hot in the summer and cold in the winter.. love to ski..
its a matter of what you like. I think anyone that ventures out west or even to new area's like boise and Idaho takes a adventurous spirit. If you're running from something, chances are its in you and it will follow you. I've lived all over the world, and let me tell u.... there's rude people everywhere, home is where the heart is. you can make it or take it....and go back to what u know and love.. Me.. I love it.
