Eight Republican senators and an independent group that supports tighter limits on immigration are warning that the Obama administration is drafting a plan to "unilaterally" issue blanket amnesty for millions of illegal immigrants as it struggles to win support in Congress for an overhaul of immigration laws.

The senators who wrote the White House on Monday say they are concerned that the administration is readying a "Plan B" in case a comprehensive reform bill cannot win enough support to clear Congress. "Such a move would further erode the American public's confidence in the federal government and its commitment to securing the borders and enforcing the laws already on the books," they wrote.

Deferred action and parole, which give illegal immigrants the ability to seek a work permit and temporary legal status, are normally granted on a case-by-case basis. But the aide said the lawmakers have learned from "sources" that the administration is considering flexing its authority to grant the status on a mass basis.

Rosemary Jenks, director of government relations with Numbers USA, said she's been hearing for weeks from "sources close to the Democratic leadership" in both chambers that administration officials are discussing whether the Department of Homeland Security could direct staff to grant "amnesty" for all illegal immigrants in the country.

"They're trying to figure out ways around a vote," she said.

If this is even remotely true, Americans should be outraged and the White House should be made aware of the anger that is rising up in everyday citizens over our government's failure to secure our borders.

It certainly has nothing to do with anything other than politics as usual no matter who occupies the White House.

This is just more of the shove-down-your-throat politics that this administration has practiced from the beginning.

I hope the outrage is especially pronounced, and the American people see them for what they really are.

If Obama really attempts to place an executive order granting "amnesty" to illegals, it may cause another civil war. I would offer that at that time, the states would recognize that the federal government is in direct opposition to the interests of thier citizens and would no longer recognize the central authority of Washington DC. The feds are powerless without the financial and human resources of the states. When the states realize that the feds are just a straw man and another level of beaurocracy, they will throw off their chains and allow the central power to wither.

Obama is playing with fire on this one. If he does proceed, he risks the insolvency of the Union or removal by the military. As much as he would like to do this, I doubt he will risk his political skin, as it would be hanging from a gallows in a few months after the "declaration".

I hope this is meant to be sarcasm.

As a member of NumberUSA I've sent 3 fax's in to the White House opposing this.

Senator Cole and Inhofe of Oklahoma are 2 Senators who signed the bill against this.

The only "overhaul" immigration needs is for the FEDS to start ENFORCING the laws that are already on the books.
