jury selection is based on many characteristics, altho im not sure if race/ethnicity is a factor. i know it is against the law to exclude potential jurors, thus making a jury all white as was the case for so long. but i dont know if they HAVE to have a diverse jury. isnt it based on the areas demographics and then from that representative pool they vet them and some are exempted?

at the end of the day, it does not matter. i dont think any jury [all hispanic, all white, mixed or otherwise] would let this guy walk. they seem to have a solid case against him.

I think he just wants his peers on the jury. You know,
other illegal pschopathic rapist murderers.

We want to be fair.

Of course they would *gag* just like one member of SCOTUS:

"I would hope that a wise Latina woman, with the richness of her experiences, would more often than not reach a better conclusion than a white male who hasn't lived that life."

it says an impartial jury, not a jury of his own race.

Guandique's attorneys requested that court officials release the surnames of potential jurors so that they could be compared against the 2000 Census to determine whether the names are of Latino origin. They wanted to make sure that the pool of potential jurors included Latinos...
They were looking for Hispanics in the pool of potential jurors.

As for the man's race, he's white. Certainly not black, Asian, or Native American.

Agreed. I think this is more a case of his lawyers seeking publicity than an effort to create a fair and unbias jury.

The attorneys making the racist request should be disciplined by their state bar. I would love to see them disbarred, but I don't think there is a law against being a racist attorney or playing the racist card when it's good for your client. Our rat infested legal system actually feeds the problem of illegal migration.

Everyone assumed it was the Congressman she worked for that had something to do with it. Police focused on him, and it almost ruined his marriage.
That's what I remember too. The news media seemed to have "tried and convicted" that Congressman she had an affair with. Then when the real story came out, it seemed to have disappeared as quickly as it appeared.

Sickens me to know that the Defense is finding a way to draw out and muck up this case when it's really all about an innocent person being murdered. Our judicial system needs an overhaul!

Since he's already a criminal via his illegal status, there is no such thing as a jury of his peers nor does he have the same rights as a citizen.
