If we had thought that the influence and presence of the illegal aliens was only in the border states, here is an example of why this is not so. Beaverton, Oregon, a suburb of Portland, is spending more than $6000 of the taxpayers money to celebrate the 200th anniversary of Mexicos independence on September 16. At the same time, the city has no plans to celebrate our own day on July 4th. Even in liberal Oregon and far left Portland there is anger and protests about this move. I am not surprised anymore at what comes out of the West Coast from the far-left. The far-left basically embraces anything so long as it isn't patriotic and American. I still await the day when a city in California will refuse to fly the American flag.
I'm still waiting for a call of support from the WH over this. With all the bizarro behavior I have been seeing from D.C. I wouldn't be surprised at this either.
The article never really addresses why there isn't any money funded to Independence Day, so anything that we say about that is conjecture. If the city residents are upset about this, then they need to vote out the people in charge. I think the White House has more important things to attend to than this and I would have said that no matter if it was Obama or Bush.

If people who are here legally wish to gather and celebrate a day that is a national holiday in their own country, that's fine with me. Aussies celebrate Australia Day even though they are now (in a lot of cases) Americans. Then again, we also celebrate July 4th etc., as do ex-pat Americans in other countries.
What I object to is such a celebration being publicly funded. That's just plain wrong imo.
