Secretary of State Kris Kobach supported the bill, and at a recent stop in Liberal, explained some of the issues dealing with providing illegal alien students in-state tuition.
“When a person is brought here as a minor, they have no choice,” he said. “But when they turn 18, they are responsible for their own actions. They have the obligation to return to their home country.”
Apparently some elected officials still can't get their heads around the fact that these kids are here illegally and are not ABLE to work legally once they get this state subsidised education..........

State Rep. Mario Goico, who was a political refugee from Cuba, says that (R) making college financially with in reach will benefit the individual and the community.
"So it is regardless of who they are, it is for them to get better education, be better workers, help the state of Kansas."
About damn time. At my children's elementary school they are talking of having to combine the second & third grades due to budget cuts! And illegals are getting college money.
Great! Why should law-abiding foreign students be required to pay higher tuition rates, while people here illegally receive in-state tuition? That is wrong on so many levels.
Apparently no one in Kansas government has taken a ride to the nearest Meat Packing or Chicken processing Plant at change of shifts. If you don't eliminate the jobs by prosecuting the employers you haven't done squat

Very true. At the Tyson plant in Emporia, I'm betting the greater majority are illegals. Took our kids to the park there last summer, you should have seen the dirty looks we got, being the only white family in the park. I didn't hear one person speaking English.
Good! There is no reason in the world an illegal should get instate tuition to KU when I lived 50' from the state line and had to pay out of state tuition.
I pray that Kobach is successful in this. With Brownback as Gov. and his history of backing breaks for illegals I didn't have much hope the system would change from what Sebilius allowed.

This is part of the law DREAM Act activists and media missed. There is already provision in the law to forgive illegals brought to the USA as a minor. However they have to return to their home country by 18 and apply for a visa. Presumably if they are good students they will get accepted to a school and be eligible to be sponsored after graduation or marry a citizen. Problem solved.

The jobs being taken by them in states like Kansas vary widely. From what I have seen personally it's pig and cattle feed lots and then the usual fast food, construction and home care. The schools of these small towns really get hammered when they bring their kids with them or have more here.
